Mung dhal detox soup


  • 2 cups mung beans
  • 2 T vegetable oil of choice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 pinches of hing/asafoetida
  • 1 t tumeric
  • 1 t cumin seeds
  • 1 t coriander seeds
  • 1 chopped garlic clove
  • vegetables of your choice
  • 1 thumb of freshly grated ginger


  1. Wash beans and soak for 3-4 hours

  2. Add 1 part beans to 3 parts water add  the bay leaves, hing, tumeric, ginger, bring to the boil for about 30-40 minutes.

  3. In a pan heat the oil and add the seeds and the garlic. Add to soupmix.

  4. Season to taste and add the fresh vegetables of your choice. Do not cook for longer than 5 minutes more.

  5. Make this fresh every morning and keep in a thermos and drink as desired. Try stay away from microwave.
