Land of Contrasts and Spiritual Lessons
Once again our annual trip to the Motherland of yoga was filled with humbling lessons, wonderful adventures, lots of Yoga, Puja, Meditation, Pranayama as well as a bad case of food poisoning (x2) . Both times it was me that was woman down ! Despite the setbacks we enjoyed meditations inside a cave, on the banks of the river Ganga, high on top of a hill with a veiled view of the Himalayas, the Ashram rooftop and lots of walking meditation. Everyone came home inspired, refreshed and motivated to live a more Spiritual life. I came home tired and determined to sleep long and eat as much bland food as possible :) . I recovered quickly, however this trip was filled with challenges for me. Due to the food poisoning I was understandably depleted of energy and so all the yoga classes were demanding. I did participate in everything but where I normally would be loving every minute, this time I was heavy and weighed down by lethargy. I am usually blessed with an incredible amount of energy, (exhausting for my family more often than not) so this was difficult for me to back off and have respect (Ahimsa) for my depleted physical body. Interestingly I found myself experiencing negative thoughts as well as battling to sit my usual early morning meditations. I always advise my students to LISTEN to their bodies, now I had to put it into practice. Therein lay my lesson from Mother India herself. Learning to be more mindful of each moment, embracing it for what it is, right now, taking nothing for granted and learning to honor myself more deeply. Thank you to my guests for their love, compassion and patience while I was battling through. I'm sure you all experienced your own lessons from this amazing Land of Contrasts !!!
